RE: Branson Missouri Campgrounds???

I would like to add Cooper Creek Campground to the list. It's right on the shore of Lake Taneycomo, has both campground and cabins. It's quiet, even though you're less than a mile from the "strip". If you like trout fishing, it's great, right from their docks or rent a boat from their marina. I'd also vote against ABC and Compton Ridge.

RE: What length is acceptable for motorhome and trailer?

There was a guy at our campground last week that was driving a 42' Dutch Star and pulling a trailer at LEAST 28'. Don't know what his total length was, but it was loooooong. Much more than I'd want to pull. Legal?? Can't say, but he was pulling it. And here in Missouri, they(LEO)are always looking for something to pull you over.

RE: How To Replace an RV TV

I also replaced the old 19" tv with a new 26" HD LCD model. I was limited in the size by the overhead cabinet doors that opened outward. I found a tv that had 1/4" of clearance between the two doors. The old tv weighed about 50lbs, the new one weighs 23lbs. I mounted a 2x8 inside the existing cabinet using floor joist hangers. I did a chin up on it to make sure it was secure....it was. Then I used a WalMart wall mount that does NOT articulate, but it does tilt. I use a couple of cut off pieces of swim noodles for extra shock protection between the tv and the ceiling. Had this setup for over a year and several thousand miles of travel, and no problems. Several people that have seen my setup have replicated it and been very happy.

RE: NASCAR even controls who wins!!!!

Although I wasn't in today's drivers' meeting, I have set in on many of them. My job used to be going to the races. Usually in the meetings I've been in, the rules were laid out, and then they said, "on the last lap, you're on your own". I like Tony but...Smith should have driven THROUGH him. He would probably have finished higher than the 18th place he was given for the infraction.

RE: OJ found guilty

Sorry I have to disagree with some previous posters but....I think that once O.J. gets to his designated prison, the prisoners AND staff will be falling over themselves trying to be his buddy. Even after being convicted in the civil case, people were still chasing him down for autographs, high 5's, etc. He's just a punk that FINALLY got what was coming to him, just 13 years later than it should have. I hope the judge throws the proverbial book at him.

RE: route fm branson to Little Rock

Let me get this straight, you're from "Branson", and asking about hills and curves???? Yep, it's the Ozarks, and we got lots of them. There are a couple of pretty good pulls between Branson and Little Rock on US65, but nothing dramatic. Probably the steepest is when you cross the Buffalo River, but nothing to worry about unless you're rig isn't in normal driveable condition.

RE: Mission,Tx Rv Help

Lucky you got in. We had some friends that called last March to reserve, and were told they were booked up. Guess they've had some cancellations due to fuel prices, etc. It is a very nice park.

RE: Activities, Attractions, Dining, Rio Grande Valley TX 08-09

Waiting for MORambler to describe the tenderloins at the Riverside.OH YEA! Big enough for two people, it covers a whole plate and VERY tasty. Can't wait to get back to the valley and have one. The Riverside Club and a tenderloin WILL be our first stop when we hit town. For those that don't know, the Riverside Club is in Mission, just up the road a short distance from Pepe's on the River. Very near Chimney Park. Also on my list of first things is also going to Gonzales Burger. BTW, easy way to find Silver Street when looking for Gonzales Burger. Watch for the overhead yellow caution lights over Salinas Street.

RE: Sticky Gel to keep items still in RV

Poster putty for us also. Buy it at Michael's, or other hobby type stores. Most of the stuff in our rig is held down with it. Lamps, vases, pictures, clocks, radios, etc.

RE: ORA Ozarks- Table Rock Lake

As others have said, on the part of the lake where ORA is located, boat traffic would be no problem. Most of the busier boat traffic is near Indian Point, the dam, and Highway 13 areas(where we're located). Mosquitos can vary from year to year. This year, with the above normal rain we've experienced, the mosquitos are plentiful, however, I sure wouldn't consider that a "major" problem. Before buying a lot at ORA however, I'd sure want to spend an extended vacation there before dropping some serious cash. I know there were some lots on the market there for over a year, and at a price I didn't think was excessive. It's just tooooo far away from "civilization" for me. Of course, that can be a good thing. We spent a weekend there several years ago.

RE: Colorado 17 - The USA's straightest road?

Co10 from LaJunta to Walsenburg is also a VERY straight piece of road as well.

RE: Rio Grande Valley thru Beaumont and Houston?

Houston ALWAYS has a lot of road/repair/construction. I avoid it at all cost when heading to the RGV.

RE: US 54 Wichita to Tucumcari

I'd also do the US54 route. We've driven it a couple of times from Oklahoma to Tucumcari and had no problems. Lots of truck traffic on it however, but that's no problem. I "typically" avoid interstates whenever I can, and US54 is a good alternative.

RE: Golf Carts in CG!!!

Our campground only allows golf carts driven by licensed drivers. Underage drivers can operate them IF a licensed driver is with them. We allow NO ATV's, go carts, dirt bikes, or any non street legal vehicle. We have several carts in the park, and so far....no problems. I do have one, however, I'm on the board of directors and use mine mostly for running errands, fixing "stuff", etc. If I didn't have it, I'd have to drive my car to do these things which isn't practical.

RE: Anyone Else Packing the Clothes Yet?

Even though we're not leaving until right after Thanksgiving, we're already packing. We FINALLY discovered the space saver bags that others have talked about. Bought several last week and have been using them getting things ready. The DW LOVES them. Now we can buy more stuff at Ropa to bring home from Texas!

RE: What do snowbirds do about mail while they're gone?

I've used the "free" USPS temporary forwarding for the last two winters. We were gone last winter for 5 months and they forwarded our magazines. We'll use it again this winter.

RE: RGV for Dec - Feb

This is our home away from home. Has everything you are interested in and much more. Great place. Super people also. http://bentsenpalmvillage.com/ Bentsenpalm Villiage is a beautiful park HOWEVER, unless you made reservations LAST winter, forget it. I had some friends that wanted to stay there and called last March and they were already booked up for this winter.

RE: Dear Texan snowbirds

Any ideas for golfers ? All we need is 30 amp and a hot tub & golf. Thnx -An Alaskan heading South soon We stay at Seven Oaks in Mission. Nice 18 hole golf course, 50A. electricity, and a hot tub by the pool. My lot is about 45 seconds from the first tee!! BTW, they've also got the largest lots I've seen in the RGV. They have a website, check it out.

RE: Our Branson Trip

Overall we had a great time, but I have to say I was disappointed in Silver Dollar City. I thought the $50.00 cost for a ticket was excessive considering the park was only open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. While we will be going to Branson again, we won’t be visiting Silver Dollar City again. That's why many of us around here call it "Steal Your Dollar City". It is a neat place, but we feel it's also overpriced. Of course, I remember when admission was FREE when it first opened in the 60's.

RE: Dear Texan snowbirds

You're not supposed to run the heat and the air at the same time. You mean someone did that??????????? Yes, and I heard it through the grapevine their electric bill ran a little over $60 a month! :E :B :W Shirley Anybody from Missouri should relate to running A/C and heat the same day!!!:B
